Prevention of memory loss (and diseases)

  • When people grow older their brain starts to become more subject diseases and inflammation, which allows receptors to become attacked by something called a free receptor which are series of different nerve endings that respond to stimulus. Research shows that food with a high amount of antioxidants will reduce the amount of memory loss a person could potentially have in their lifetime. They (the antioxidants) also aid as "ant inflammatory" in your brain. Amyloid plaque that builds up in the brains of patients who have Alzheimer’s disease can also be lessened by Antioxidants. Antioxidants include, but are not limited to plums, oranges, red beats, eggplant, rosemary, cherries, red grapes, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, strawberries, raspberries, onions, sprouts, broccoli, and cherries (etc). For example Blueberries have been known to aid in "brain power" and memory storage because of different chemical compounds that are found in the blueberries and other plants with similar makeups. Apples, another fruit containing antioxidants that are found in the skin of particularly red apples have been shown to protect against AD. When tested on rats, Spinach and other fruits and vegetables with a similar makeup have been showed to boost rat’s memories. Separate from antioxidants, Cumin is a spice that aids in preserving memories also tea and chocolate can improve your memory because of a chemical called epicatechin.

SMELL

Your sense of smell is the biggest trigger of memories. This is because receptors in your nose are attached directly to the hippocampus in your brain where your memories are stored and sorted.
