Why Do We Forget?

Many times, we forget some memories due to a lapse of time, inattention, interference, repression, or a disease. In order to overcome any of these factors, we can preserve our memories in many manners such as pictures, scrapbooks, albums, family quilts, etc.

Scrapbooks and albums are used to preserve memories from the past through pictures and other memorable artifacts so they can be viewed later. Looking back upon scrapbooks people have the ability to reflect and relive there memorable moments in their life. Scrapbooks are used to document a birth, someone's life, or a vacation. Pictures are important for memory as well.

Quilts

Traced back to Ancient Egypt and China quilting is a form of art originally used to place different fabrics together. Quilts are enjoyed for different reasons, preserving memories, looking back through heritage, as well as just for decoration. Quilting can also be used to remember a loved one. In quilting different fabrics, pictures, and art pieces are either sewn or placed together in an arrangement which all reflect a different part of that person, event, or aspect the "quilter" is capturing. For example to remember a loved one, a piece of fabric on their favorite thing, a picture of them, fabric of their shirt, etc., would be added to the quilt to make the personal connection.
