The Sikh Genocide

In 1984, a very devastating Anti- Sikh massacre had occurred. These four days of intense violence occurred in the northern part of india, mainly Delhi. This pogrom was triggered when Indira Gandhi, a former prime minister of India, formed Operation Blue Star. This was an order to the Indian army to attack Sikhs in the Golden Temple, a very important temple of worship. The Golden Temple was destroyed, and the Sikhs took it very offensively and as a threat to their religion. After this operation, two of Indira Gandhi's Sikh bodyguards assassinated her. This instantly lead to the riots, and as a result, about 10,000-17,000 Sikhs were brutally murdered.
